Out of the office and into the classroom. Doctors and residents
at the University of Rochester Medical Center are talking healthcare
with kids.
Dr. Cami Matthews and resident Maria Granda left their white labcoats
behind as they taught these toddlers in the ABC Head Start program
about dental hygiene.
Dr. Matthews is a pediatrician. She says, "When we ask the
kids who doctors are, they say we give them shots and listen to
their hearts. And I think it's nice to see them outside that sterile
environment."
The lessons are part of the U of R's "Pediatric Links with
the Community" program. Doctors break down barriers by giving
toddlers advice they may not get at home.
